Fundraising Tips

Thank you very much for support our agency’s fundraising initiatives. We could not run our programs without people like you starting something BIG for us!

Here are some tips to help lead your fundraising campaign to success.

1. Ask for help

There is no need to feel shy about asking for pledges. Start by asking your friends and co-workers to help you in your efforts in person or by email or text. Remember to take a pledge sheet with you wherever you go! If you need a pledge sheet, please contact our office and we will send one to you.

2. Share your inspiration

Tell people the story behind why you are involved. What inspired you? Why did you choose Big Brothers Big Sisters? If you are collecting pledges on-line, try to use visual aids to help support your message.

3. Matching Gift Programs

A matching gift is a charitable gift make towards a non-profit organization by a matching donor, such as an employer. For example, if you raise $50 your matching gift would be another $50, and therefore the charity would receive a $100 donation.

4. Keep it simple

Make sure to keep your message simple. For example “I am raising money for Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake. My goal is to raise $500 in order to help the agency supply snacks for their Summer Adventure Program.”

5. Get Creative

Host a coin drive, have a bake sale, or host a dress down day at work. If you would like some creative ideas, our fundraising coordinator will be willing to help you out!
